LO3 KTA12 - Analysis Of Results From Survey Monkey

These results are not surprising it was expected to have a 50/50 outcome.

Expected result.

This is interesting as it shows there is an audience outside of Sheffield.

This result is expected as the Indie rock is similar to just general rock and tends to be more popular

The result is 100% yes, the yes been repeated twice is a mistake. This result is good as it shows that an audience agrees with my choice of logo style.

Expected Result, this shows us that people interested regularly go to festivals.

This was not an expected result, as i though red, blue, black and white would
be the most popular result. Black was the most popular, this is an interesting result as most band logos were plain black. Followed by yellow. It was really surprising not to find a single result for blue or red though.

Yet again the two yes options are a mistake. This aside means that the majority of people liked my colour scheme. Therefore it is successful.

The majority of people liked the other graphics, therefore this is successful.

The majority of people though it was a reasonable price.

LO2 KTA7/9 - Successful brand V-Festival

V-FEST

"The V Festival is an annual music festival held in the United Kingdom during the penultimate weekend in August. The event is held at two parks simultaneously which share the same bill; artists perform at one location on Saturday and then swap on Sunday" - Wikipedia.

This event is successful as it has big artists such as Beyonce, Kings of Leon, Jessie J. Names that people know rather than smaller groups with a smaller fan base. It has also been running for 6 years meaning it will have annual fans that will come every year.

Virgin throws in adverts like "When you’re having a great time, we know you want to shout about it – whether that’s uploading your photos or tweeting mates to tell them what they’re missing. That’s why, thanks to Virgin Media’s superfast fibre optic broadband, we’ve got free WiFi points across the site." - V-Festival website.

Virgin Media provides services like telephone, TV and broadband internet. The company has been a subsidiary since June 2013 of Liberty Global.

LO2 KTA8 - Logo Development

Initial Concepts

So here is the first concepts I came up with. The first idea is a bottle on its side with City Fest written on it with curved fancy borders (Like the Jack Daniels Bottle). Then behind it I have a drum set for a background, the idea was to have that red, as it fits with the mood-board and other logos I have looked at. There is also a pair of drum sticks behind that to add to the rock festival look. The text would be in block capitals to have stand out effect. (Black outline with white fill). Finally there is a converse logo, this is add to the rock feel and hopefully interest the intended target audience.

The second logo I have is much more complicated. I have apartments/ general buildings on either side of the headphones, this is to add to the industrial feel of Sheffield. I also have a pair of headphones in the centre (which should be the main focus of the logo). Then we have the Sheffield City Festival text branching off each floor of the building. There is a design error here though because the idea was to have the headphones a little further off to let the text branch all the way out. The text would be block capitals, I think it is the most effect way as it would stand out and would keep enough attention  towards it rather than the headphones been the centre of attention.

This is the next series of concepts. The first one is a new touch on my first concept. Now here it is not a drum kit and is now just a border in an oval shape (Yet again the intended colour is grey outline red fill). All I've done here is move things around, so I have enlarged the converse logo, and the text is larger and positioned to start large at the bottom and then get narrower towards the top, I haven't really shown that very clearly here.

This is the final design. You can see that this is supposed to be a drum kit by the border with screws and the stand, but I have put a shiny circle in the centre, I was initially going to make it a speaker. I have followed the same block capitals text as I have throughout, and have positioned it so it looks like it is actually written on the drum kit. I was going to have the drum kit backing blue with grew borders and white text.
So this is the final design and is the one I am keeping, as you can see I expanded my last design and come to this. So I moved away from the drum and decided to go with the speaker idea. I kept the blue backing as i thought it went better with the grey than other colours. I decided to try new text as well I have used I slightly lighter grey and white underneath that, the effect I used was called emboss. It gives a move 3D feel to it.

Festivals slogan is:

City Fest? - Forget the rest!

Designs for the other graphics are included in LO3 KTA11 Presentation
